Pop Life: Art in a Material World, is an exhibition taking place at Tate Modern, London, to reiterate that “good business is the best art,” a provocation by the one and only Andy Warhol. This quote is just the starting point in this exhibition to look at the history of what is known as “Pop Art.” Another thought behind the exhibition is the look into the future and how Pop Art has changed since the cultivated brands of artists back in the 1980’s. To help with this vision artist participating in this exhibition are Tracey Emin, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Martin Kippenberger, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince. The exhibition will begin October 1st, 2009 and will end January 17th, 2010.

Hello Kitty, Medicom Toy, and Dr.Romanelli come together once again to create the “Candy Striper” Hello Kitty. The inspiration for the project is that of it’s name; it’s Romanelli’s look and take on the creation of the term Candy Striper which was created in East Orange, New Jersey, in 1944.

They have done it again, Montana Paint along with the collaboration with Carhartt have now created the new Carhartt custom Spray Can. With Carhartts mellow urban swag and the graffiti culture of MNT the custom can rocks the the Carhartt orange and just brings a tingle down my spine.

Spare Paint is a two part series with San Francisco artists David Choong Lee and Brian Barneclo. The series is based off of two panhandling homeless men and the visual intake of making new street signs that match the person at hand. The video for part one shows Joe, a homeless Veteran that was denied retirement benefits; this video is true at heart and will really get a person thinking. Big shout and thanks to Upper Playground for this feature as part one shows Brian Barneclo giving Joe a new sign with hopes that it will make things brighter for him.
